In June and July we installed three pedestrian bridges over stormwater drains on The Esplanade between Seaforth Drive and Calhoun Road, in Portarlington.
These works are part of our long term goal to upgrade the entire length of the Coastal Trail, which travels 17km, reaching from Point Richards to St Leonards.
As well as constructing the foot bridges, we planted some low level native shrubs, upgraded the fencing, and installed maintenance access gates.
Importantly, we were also able to realign the pedestrian path to ensure it remains a safe distance from the road.
This project was an essential step in our overall plan to improve the Coastal Trail, which will be a fantastic community asset and a real drawcard for visitors once all of the works are complete.
