Community helps protect wetlands

indented head wetlandsMembers of the Indented Head community recently got together to help us rehabilitate and revegetate the Indented Head wetlands.

We were grateful to 25 community members who came along and enjoyed the sunshine and planted almost 1000 indigenous plants with us.

The Indented Head wetlands provide such an important habitat for local and migratory birds so it is important that we protect this area as much as possible. The new plants will provide food and shelter for years to come.

The wetlands are also a beautiful recreational space that many locals enjoy walking around regularly.

We have been working to protect and enhance the wetlands for several years through weed and rubbish removal and replanting.

The community planting day was organised as part of Bellarine Bayside’s winter planting schedule, and once again we thank all of those who came along.
