Future projects mapped out

Earlier this month, our Master plan for the management of the Northern Bellarine foreshore was approved by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change.

The Master Plan maps out various activities and goals for the Northern Bellarine foreshore for the next 15-20 years.

It was developed in close consultation with local community members. Two community reference groups were established to provide input into the development of the plan.

The Master Plan is a partner document with the Northern Bellarine Foreshore Plan, which is Bellarine Bayside’s overarching key strategic planning document. The Master Plan outlines the specific projects and works needed to fulfil the strategic goals set in the Northern Bellarine Foreshore Plan. It identifies how Bellarine Bayside will protect, enhance, develop and manage foreshore reserves.

For example, some of the key projects listed include improving the 17km Coastal Trail, rehabilitating important foreshore vegetation, improving car parks and beach access and repairs to seawalls.

The Master Plan ensures the work of Bellarine Bayside stays relevant and focussed. It also ensures we can allocate our limited resources to prioritise the projects that are of the most importance to the community, as well as the most urgent for the environment.
