Batman Park Community Open Space Announcement

Much needed protection, enhancement and improvements to Batman Park, in Indented Heads, will soon be underway.

Bellarine Bayside has recently been successful in applying for funds from the Victorian Government to create a community open space at Batman Park. This includes the replacement of the old concrete beach access ramp with a new structure.

The project will be located at the northern end of Batman Park. To enable the project to proceed, Bellarine Bayside has removed two seasonal camp sites from this area.

The aim of the project is to provide a landscaped and attractive coastal open space to be enjoyed by everyone. It will provide community amenities such as bins, BBQs, seating and tables and attractive shade structure as well as providing unobstructed and safe beach access to Half Moon Bay.

Removal of environmental weeds and re-vegetating with indigenous plant species will enhance the local biodiversity. The coastal trail will also be continued through here.

There are two beach access options being considered. Option 1 is a timber staircase. Option 2 is a concrete ramp providing access which is DDA compliant – all abilities.

Both options are within budget and have their pros and cons. You can download the proposed plan options here Option 1   > Option 2

The community open space and the new beach access are identified and supported by Bellarine Bayside’s Northern Bellarine Foreshore Master Plan.

Bellarine Bayside would like to hear from the community regarding the options for the beach access.

The community is invited to discuss the project at a Community Consultation Session at 5pm on Thursday 29th January at the Indented Head Community Hall. Please RSVP to Nick Wynn on 5254 4013.
