The re-landscaping of the Portarlington Holiday Park, where thirty unsafe Monterey cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) trees were removed, is now complete. Although it was sad to see these old trees removed, they have been replaced with 94 native trees that will in time provide plenty of shade cover as well as 1250 coastal plants. The sites have been re-established with over 2200m2 of Kikuyu instant turf. This warm season grass variety will survive through the hot summer months and self-repair during the shoulder seasons. Many campers have already requested to use these sites for the Spring mini-season, however we will be giving them a chance to stabilise before allowing campers on to these sites.
