As previously reported on our Facebook pages, Twitter and Instagram, the fireworks display originally scheduled for 9.30pm this evening on the Portarlington foreshore was cancelled on advice from the CFA due to the extreme weather conditions that have led to New Year’s Eve being declared a severe Total Fire Ban Day. All rural fireworks permits have been revoked, however you can still catch the fireworks display in Geelong city at the waterfront at 9.30pm or midnight.
Graeme’s world-class hot jam donuts and Vicki’s gelati and soft serve ice cream are again available on the foreshore over summer. Many of you would have tasted their delicious offerings already this week. Mr Mussel and Bella’s Smoked Fish can provide all your seafood treats and are located at Portarlington Pier.
Peter’s Coastal Coffee van and Dionne’s food van are in the park daily. Dionne is permanently located in Portarlington Holiday Park near Arthur’s lounge and supplies bread, milk, ice, papers, a range of quality home made food, slushies, soft drinks, lollies, etc. Other food vans visiting within the Portarlington Holiday Park include Ninja Balls, Honey Dee Loukoumades (Greek donuts), Tropical Sno, and Wood Oven Pizza. Check out the CALENDAR for individual dates.
In conjunction with Summer by the Sea and Bellarine Catchment Network, Bellarine Bayside are hosting a number of coastal activities this January including rockpool rambles, beachcombs, Coastcare enviro challenges and a screening of underwater documentary ‘Melbourne Down Under’ at the Indented Head Hall. Check out our Facebook page and register for events there. A full list of events and activities is available HERE.
PORTARLINGTON CHARITY CARNIVAL
The Portarlington Charity Carnival raises much needed funds for several local community groups and has been operating on the foreshore for 55+ years. The carnival will operate each evening until Tuesday 26 January 2016, 7-11 pm.
Bellarine Bayside would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable New Year. See you in 2016.
